APEX ENGINEERS is a transportation engineering firm. We provide consulting services to FDOT, county, and city entities. Our primary services include roadway and drainage design. We are a fast-growing company. APEX ENGINEERS is currently seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager for our Jacksonville, Florida office to provide roadway and drainage design services and project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops detailed roadway design & drawings in Open Road Design(ORD). Strong Emphasis on Corridor Modeling.
  • Roadway design, construction plans, production, and management.
  • Knowledge of Design-Build Process
  • Development of horizontal and vertical geometry, preparation of plan and profile sheets, typical sections, roadway cross-sections, drainage plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and utility adjustment plans.
  • Strong understanding of FDM, Standard Plans, Specifications and other design criteria documents.
  • Prepare and manage staff hour estimates, concept reports, and project scopes
  • Calculate quantity estimates in connection with the roadway design.
  • Perform field investigations and inspections and evaluate existing conditions on the roadway, signing and pavement marking.
  • Participate in strategic planning and business development activities to support the achievement of company growth goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of roadway design and plans production experience with significant major highway, interchange, and urban roadway design services to public sector clients.
  • Must have a Florida PE or a PE with a state that has reciprocity with Florida (obtaining a Florida PE within six months will be a requirement).
  • Proficiency with MicroStation Open Roads, Corridor Modeling, MS Office (especially Excel), and other FDOT design applications.
  • Understanding roadway and traffic operations, design principles, and familiarity with relevant national, state, local (preferred), and industry standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects and budgets, and the ability to form and maintain positive relationships with clients and staff.
  • Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project experience preferred.
